Hola a todos!

This summer, a group of 26 APSU students, one faculty member, and one staff departed on a a four week educational journey in the beautiful country of Spain. For some of our students this was their first flight and they did wonderfully navigating the airport and making their way through customs for the first time. Many of our students are returning to Madrid for the second or third time. These students are a great benefit to the group and are excited about helping to show the first-timers around Madrid and Alicante.

The sky in Madrid was a beautiful blue as we made our way into the city and the students were quickly soaking in the views of the lovely European city. Although exhausted from the flight, the student’s faces lit up in excitement as they took it all in. We were all a bit anxious to meet our host families and settle in to our new dwellings in Madrid. The “mamas” were waiting happily for us and escorted the students back to their new dwellings.

To cap off the first day in Madrid, the group met for a traditional meal at La Casa Mingo. This week is a week of celebration in Madrid and is known as the Festival de San Isidro. The students finished out the night with a firework spectacular in el Parque del Buen Retiro (Retiro Park).
